Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Promoter for free?

You can track coverage for one game for free for 14 days. Allowing journalists and content creators to request review copies of your game is always free. If you need to send more than 50 Steam Keys or promo codes, you'll be asked to upgrade to a paid plan.

Some features are exclusive to paid accounts, such as tracking multiple games, multi-user accounts, access to the site index and email reminders for festival submission deadlines.

You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and you always have access to all your existing data, even if you cancel your subscription. You'll get an email reminder when your trial ends.

How do I pay for Promoter?

You pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club or JCB). Select a plan that best fits your usage. Your card will automatically be charged every month. You'll get a proper receipt for each payment that will make your accountant happy. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.

If credit card payment absolutely does not work for you for some reason, let me know and we'll figure something out.

How do I subscribe to reminders for festival submission deadlines?

Promoter offers a curated calendar with information and dates of submission deadlines for important game festivals and competitions such as IGF, IndieCade, PAX and many more. You can turn on email notifications for submission deadlines if you have a paid Promoter account.

How does the Slack integration work?

To setup the Slack integration, first sign up for a Promoter account or login to your account if you already have one. Then head over to our Slack page and press the Add to Slack button. Select the Slack channel you want to send the mentions to. Now the Slack integration is setup and Promoter will send new mentions directly to your Slack channel.

How do I add sources to the auto-detection?

Promoter crawls through the RSS feeds of over 4400 gaming related websites and YouTube channels. The selection of the sources is curated to ensure quality. If Promoter is not picking up a particlar mention automatically, please let me know and I'll add it.

If a YouTuber requests a review copy from you through Promoter, his or her channel is automatically added to the index if it has at least 100 subscribers.

What's the difference between reviews and mentions?

To keep things simple, an article with a numerical score (e.g. 9 out of 10) is always called a review. Everything else is called a mention.

How do I show selected reviews and awards on my website?

You can dynamically load data for your public reviews and awards by adding the extensions .json or .xml to the url of a public page (see example). You'll need some basic knowledge of JavaScript or a server-side script language like PHP to process the XML or JSON and display it on your website. If you need help let me know and I'll try to point you into the right direction.

You have access to the following data:

  • Product title
  • Reviews
    • Date of publication
    • Numerical rating
    • Quote
    • URL
    • Name of publication
    • Name of reviewer
  • Awards
    • Award title
    • Location
    • Year
    • URL
